DWA 246 The United States and East Asia

This course analyzes various types of interaction between the United States and East Asian countries from the late 18th century to the present. We shall examine the dynamics of cultural contact and conflict, the process of economic development in a trans-Pacific and international context, the changing roles of the United States in East Asian affairs, and power rivalries in the Pacific Rim.
