COMP 127 Introduction to Computer Science through Data

Computer Science is about the organization and processing of information. This course is an introduction to the science (and the art!) of programming, including concepts such as: variables, branches, loops, lists, dictionaries, and classes. The focus of this course is on data - how to generate data by modeling, how to analyze data, and how to present data understandably. Students should come out of the course able to write programs that solve real problems and able to begin participating in computational research. The skills taught in this course are not only necessary for computer science, but for being citizens in the age of the internet and data.
