COGS 230 Mind, Brain, and Behavior

This course addresses the question: how can we understand the mind scientifically? We will explore answers to this question via a critical survey of neural and behavioral evidence bearing on the nature of core cognitive capacities, including perception, memory, emotion, decision-making, rationality, and consciousness. We will explore these sources of evidence in a comparative perspective, drawing on evidence of both human and (non-human) animal cognition, to more adequately characterize the general nature of cognition.
