BIO 380 Plant Physiological Ecology

An investigation of physiological processes in plants, including photosynthesis; nutrient uptake and water relations and how they are affected by environmental conditions; and interactions with other organisms, including insects, vertebrates, and fungi. The emphasis will be on how to quantify and predict plant physiological responses to the particular ecological pressures of Southern California. Classroom discussions and presentations will focus on papers from the current scientific literature. Includes one three-hour laboratory per week.
