AMST 310 The American South

This interdisciplinary seminar examines representations of the American South in literature and film, as well as material and popular culture from Aunt Jemima collectibles, D.W. Griffith's Birth of a Nation, to CNN's 2005 coverage of Hurricane Katrina. We will also discuss the impact of Asian and Latino immigration on a region traditionally characterized as "black and white."
