GIS 6020 Advanced Geographic Information Systems

Geographic Information Systems are much more than a graphical processing, storage and display system. The real influence and advantage that GIS provides, is in its information analysis potential. As data become larger, these GIS analytical methods (e.g., spatial modeling, spatial statistics and spatial analysis) provide insight for data scientists. This course introduces analytical methods for geospatial data. Some of the topics include: point pattern analysis, interpolation, surface analysis, overlay-analysis, spatial autocorrelation, modeling spatial statistics, geo-statistics, Boolean logic, and map algebra. Some programming will also be included to automate varied processes.
