M.S.N. Nurse Practitioner to D.N.P Accelerated Option

The purpose of this option is to offer eligible M.S.N. Nurse Practitioner students the opportunity to take DNP 7104 Politics and Policy in the Health Care System in place of MSN 7741 Politics and Policy in the Health Care System. This course, taken at the doctoral level, will fulfill the requirements for both programs. Additionally, students may take two additional D.N.P. courses during the final three semesters of the M.S.N. Nurse Practitioner program: DNP 7000 Bioethics for Advanced Practice Nursing and DNP 7101 Epidemiology in Advanced Practice. Students will also receive conditional acceptance into the D.N.P. program pending their successful completion of the M.S.N. Nurse Practitioner program requirements.

 Eligibility Criteria:

1. Completion of all M.S.N. Nurse Practitioner courses with the exception of:
   1. Family Nurse Practitioner Students: MSN 8823 Practicum III-Family, MSN 8330 Practicum IV-Family, MSN 8343 Practicum V-Family 
   2. Adult/ Gerontology Practitioner Students: MSN 8224 Practicum III-Adult/Gerontology, MSN 8831 Practicum IV-Adult/Gerontology, and MSN 8344 Practicum V-Adult/Gerontology  
2. GPA of 3.0
3. Recommendation from M.S.N. Nurse Practitioner Program Chair.
4. Interview with D.N.P. Program Chair.

The M.S.N. Nurse Practitioner to D.N.P. Accelerated Option Intent Form is located in the College of Health Professions M.S.N. Nurse Practitioner Student Blackboard site. Upon submission of the intent to enroll form, students will be contacted by the D.N.P. Program Chair to assist with appropriate course sequencing, advisement, and preparation for doctoral study.
